I’ve been a member Carleton RC since 2014 and have enjoyed competing at the club show and the team competitions. I find that the six shows Carleton has are really useful for bringing on a young horse, and there are more opportunities for teams than I can keep up with! I particularly enjoy dressage and eventing.

Emma Broughton – SECRETARY / AGM / TRAINING / NOVICE & INTERMEDIATE WINTER DRESSAGE TEAMS

I have been a committee member for over 22 years and recently qualified BRC official steward and area 14 Rep. I can Be seen at shows attempting dressage with my fluffy pony Panda, if you had told me 5 years ago I’d own a Panda I wouldn’t have believed you however she’s probing to be pretty cool to have around . I have enjoyed many years both competing and helping at shows making many friends along the way.

I joined the committee in 2007 and have enjoyed competing in both dressage and SJ, currently on my ginger mare Cressida.  I have enjoyed competing both of my horses (Cressida and Elska) at our monthly shows and have been lucky enough to represent the club in dressage, show jumping and eventing  I am a registered paramedic and have worked front line duties for the last 25 years.  These days I organise first aid for Carleton events, but am usually around to assist with any issues too.  I am the person to contact if you are interested in being part of the horse trials teams.

Anna Savage – AGM / TRAINING / VOLUNTEERS

I have  ridden all  my  life and was a member of the Newmarket and Thurlow Pony  Club being their longest serving member representing both the Gosling Cup Team and The Calvert Cup both in Eventing. As a member of Saffron Walden Riding Club I was on all the teams from Dressage to Eventing and rode in the old fashioned Point to Point three times on my own Horse Sha’ir Shambertan at Horseheath. I have been a member of Carleton for many years enjoying representing them in teams.

Michaela Canham –  TREASURER / AGM / TRAINING / LEAGUES

I was a member of Carleton years back when they held shows at Tacolneston, so it was natural for my daughter to join when she started competing.  I  help out  Lauryn with her horse Lucky, but now have a youngster called Mggie and in the future I hope to do dressage at the CRC shows.  I am a qualified accountant so it therefore was the obvious choice for me to become Treasurer!

Rachael Key – SAFEGUARDING / COMBINED CHALLENGE TEAMS / SUMMER DRESSAGE TEAMS

I first competed at Carleton Riding Club in 2013 as a non-member.  I really enjoyed the club atmosphere and decided to join in 2014.  I have been lucky enough to enjoy many successes as part of a team representing Carleton Riding Club at the National Championships on many occasions.  I compete regularly in dressage and eventing, and as a qualified coach I provide training sessions for Carleton members at my yard, Willow Farm Equestrian in Ormesby. My main role as part of the committee is organising the senior dressage teams, which I thoroughly enjoy, and is great fun to be part of.

I have been a member of Carleton RC for as long as I can remember.  With the help of the riding club I was able to progress through the dressage levels and compete at several area and championship competitions. I am now looking forward to bringing on my new horse Jack who will be starting his career in the riding club. I currently organise the junior dressage teams, and make the cakes for the show day helpers and update the club website and instagram.

I joined the committee in the 2021 AGM as I wanted to give back to the club. I have been very lucky to be around horses from a very early age, as my mum had ponies when she was younger.  I have had Tilly since she was 3 years old, she’s been abit of a slow burner but at 14 now we have progressed with the clubs shows and training. I enjoy competing in arena eventing, XC and SJ - anything where our feet leave the ground. But I will have a go at most things and have even tried vaulting - It wasn’t very graceful. What I love about the club is that its as fun and as competitive as you want to make it & a great experience for anyone that attends the shows and training no matter what level you are at.

I joined Carleton Riding Club in 2022 as I missed being a part of a riding club. My aim was to compete at the shows and do some of the training. Little did I know that I would end up on a team that qualified for the Champs in Lincoln. Even though it didn’t go to plan, everyone was made me feel so welcome. I’ve found the club very supportive and wanted to give back. Joining the committee was the next logical step. I will give most things a go. And Buddy is proving that he can turn his hoof to most things too. I wanted an all-rounder and that’s what I’ve got. I love learning and having fun together.
